Kitchen Knife Safety

January 30, 2017 by Dinner Tonight

Many everyday kitchen activities require the use of a knife.
Use this guide on kitchen knife safety to keep yourself safe and make preparing food at home more enjoyable!

Proper knife safety has a lot to do with choosing the correct knife for the job at hand! Check out this quick reference guide to see if you have chosen the right knife for the job.

The classic Julienne Method

  1. Wash your produce and peel.  Cut into 2 to 3-inch lengths.
  2. Cut a thin slice off one side to make a stable base. Place the flat side down, and slice into uniform planks.
  3. Slice produce about 1/16 to 1/8-inch across.

Stack a few planks at a time and slice them into 1/16- to 1/8-inch-thick strips (the same width as the slabs).
