If you are not familiar with quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wah), it might seem hard to cook. It’s actually very similar to making rice! Quinoa is a great substitute for rice or pasta if you can’t have gluten. Learn how to serve this grain with the following easy steps:
- Measure out the quinoa you need. Rinse the dry quinoa in a strainer. One cup of dry quinoa makes 4 servings which is about 2 cups of cooked quinoa.
- For one cup of dry quinoa, add 1 ½ cups of water to a saucepan. Add the rinsed quinoa and bring the pan to a boil on the stovetop. After the water begins to boil, turn the heat down to allow the quinoa to simmer for about 18 minutes, or fork tender.
- Fluff the quinoa and serve. Quinoa should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
