Have you ever wondered how to properly cut or slice fruit? Maybe when you cut up something, you are throwing away a lot of the edible part of the fruit. Properly cutting grapefruit can help you get the most bang for your buck. With a little practice, you will be segmenting your own grapefruit like a chef!
Here are the steps:
- Slice off the top and bottom of the grapefruit with a sharp thin-bladed knife.
- Turn the fruit to sit on the flat edge. Cut the peel away from the fruit, following the curve of the fruit. Be careful to remove all the white parts.
- Carefully cut along the membrane section towards the center of the fruit and gently turn the knife to loosen the other side of the section and flip out the slice. Continue all the way around the grapefruit until you have removed all the sections.
You have now segmented your grapefruit. This is also called supreming a grapefruit!
