Dinner Tonight is proud to feature our partnership with the King Ranch. Through this partnership we wanted to explore cooking with wild game in Texas and wild game found on the King Ranch. By partnering with King Ranch Main House Executive Chef, Aidan Daugherty, we were able to bring healthy meals from the King Ranch right to your kitchen. We hope you enjoy the recipes!
About the King Ranch:
Deer, wild turkey, quail, javelina, wild hog and nilgai – all these animals roam on King Ranch’s 825,000 acres of wildlife habitat!
King Ranch is a well-known destination for hunting in Texas. Founded in 1853, the ranch began to manage habitats for the benefit of wildlife in the early 1900s, when it hired Caesar Kleberg as a foreman. Kleberg led the first game management policy in Texas. He built fenced areas and brush shelters for quail, set rules for hunting, built overflow tanks and windmills for wildlife, and eventually helped create Texas’ first hunting laws to reduce crippling losses, among other reforms. in 1945, King Ranch became on of the first privately owned ranches in the United States to add a professional wildlife biologist to it’s staff. As a result of all these efforts, diverse wildlife species are thriving at King Ranch today.
