Grilling weather doesn’t have to be set on BBQ. Add a water-filled fruit to the grill to add a new “flare” to your plate this summer.

Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon mint leaves
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons honey
  • 2 Tablespoons water
  • 3 cup watermelon diced
  • 2 cup peaches sliced
  • 3 cup cantaloupe diced
  • 2 cup pineapple diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon mint leaves chopped

Instructions
  1. Wash your hands and clean your countertops. Rinse produce under cool running water before slicing.
  2. Using Path to the Plate fire and heat safety guidelines, prepare the grill.
  3. Using a medium saucepan, simmer water and honey until combined. Infuse honey water by simmering with mint leaves for 1 minute. Remove mint leaves. Pour the liquid in a jar, and let infused honey water cool in the refrigerator.
  4. Prepare sliced and diced fruit on 6 wooden or metal skewers. Grill for 30-60 seconds on each side.
  5. Leaving fruit on skewers, use a basting brush to glaze over fruit. Sprinkle kosher salt and mint leaves over grilled fruit skewers.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups tri-color cheese tortellini
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese balled/cubed
  • 1 1/4 cup black olives canned, pitted and whole, reduced sodium
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh basil finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  1. Clean and sanitize your workspace. Pull back your hair, and wash your hands.
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  3. In a bowl, mix mozzarella cheese with olive oil, basil, parsley, salt and pepper. Allow to marinate for at 15 minutes.
  4. Layer ingredients on bamboo skewers – (2) tortellini, (2) cheese, (4) olives, (4) tomatoes on each skewer. Repeat on each skewer.

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon strawberry jelly
  • 2 slices wheat bread
  • assorted fruit
  • 2 Slices Wheat Bread
  • assorted fruit

  1. Spread Almond butter on one slice of bread followed by jelly. Top with second slice of bread. Slice into small squares and thread onto toothpicks or skewers, alternating with fresh fruit.
